RMM TBS Discovery: Updated Layout, Never Ending Persute of Perfection

Hello, Have no posted anything in sometime now, but have been super busy. The main even my daughter has turned One years old yesterday. I have been truly blessed with this child and just everyone in my life. Today once things have come down a little bit i was able to optimize my frame to get the video quality i was after.
Team Black Sheep  once again prove to be the true leaders of making ultimate FPV machines.
So i finally got the lens replacement for my SJ4000 action camera, which is pretty much a GoPro3, with the GoPro 2 lens. I paid 89.99 for this camera and the quality is up to par with the GoPro, its defiantly not a Sony HDR but close.
I have decided not to run the Sony Camera until i finish designing and printing the 2 axis gimbals for my TBS. I am not quite ready to share my results but i did have a maiden flight which was successful but that going to be a separate write up.

So back to the video transmission. if you remember i had my video transmitter right where the gopro sits now, which posed an issue of the signal being blocked by the frame as the antenna was not high enough.
TBS makes a VTX FlameWheel mount that you can pick up on GetFPV.com for $10, and that has improved my video range and quality tenfold. Now i just cant wait to get my real cloverleaf antenna which i know will dramatically increase my range over this $5 antenna.

Also by removing the Sony camera and the very heavy housing i was able to pick up almost 3 more minutes of flight, and for those who are worried about the lens being too exposed on the gopro, i have something printing as we speak actually that will resolve that issue. ill be posting that tomorrow.

pictures speak a thousand words, so ill let you judge on your own.
Ill post of video photage taken with this frame revision and camera tomorrow.

A little bit more info on the photos, i figure ill show you guys what it actually looks like from my point of view as i fly. The Information Overlay is the MOST IMPORTANT thing you can possibly add to your FPV experience, it will save you Thousands of dollars, nothing like loosing your machine because you miscalculated how much battery you have left or fly out to far and not know where home is because the world looks very different from above. Having exact distance from launch and direction where home is, is just as essential as knowing how much power you have left.
Also you see the Win8.1 Tablet with my Groundstation software that has a lot more information on what the quad is doing and mainly the map so if i get tired of flying or just simply dont want to manually fly back, i can throw the Position hold on, and quickly maps out a path for it to follow home and altitude and it will just come back to me.
Now all these things are soon to be incorporated into a Ground Station Briefcase that will mount onto a tripod.
So far i got a 12 inch 600nit bright touchscreen that will be the ground station and have another 10 inch diy 600 nit bright FPV screen that i will use to actually fly.
There is a ton of work that needs to be done to the ground station as i want to have redundant and hopping video receivers and will program an arduino to pick a best signal and output to the screen that way i improve the video quality even more. but more on that next week.
Lastly showcased is the TBS love-seat. its the memory foam coach looking thing that the go pro sits in, virtually eliminates all vibrations for perfect video.

Review: FatShark Dominator v2 (Part 1 of 3)

This review will be broken down into 3 parts: Part 1 = The goggles, Features, thoughts Part 2 = DVR Quality, How to Operate Part 3 = Accessories, Reception Quality Shoot OUT( 3 different Antennas Tested) Hello everyone, i have recently had a chance to enjoy the FPV experience with many different sets of goggles including the FatShark Dominator v2, FatShark Attitude SD, Skyzone Diversity goggles and even the Quanum monitor/goggles DIY set up. In this post i will focus more on the newly updated Dominators, some people call them version 2.2, because the company had made some major changes in the positive direction for these goggles. As stated above i have tried many different solutions for flying FPV. Let me just say get this out of the way, if you are flying via monitor and not goggles you are doing yourself an injustice because your experience is not at all what it should be. There is no other feeling like feeling that you are sitting inside of your little 250 frame zoomin

The Beast: QAV-R 5" 220mm FPV Quad

So we have been doing a lot of writting and explaining, and some people have asked for a simpler post for those who have a slighhtly better understanding of the technology. So in this post we are just going to show off some pictures and provide you a parts list and prices if you chose to build the same exact quad as we are offering as the $500 package deal for the built and tuned quad, 2 Grapheen Batteries, 4 sets of DalProp Crystal 5x4x3 QAV-R is the next generation of the QAV-210 which now offers a removable arms in an X shape, which should provide better handling, as well as the arms are now thicker but more narrow allowing for better thrust values and not loosing the durability. Parts List: Frame: Lumenier QAV-R 5" 220mm Quad with 4mm Arms            $115 Carbon Fiber X Brace                                                            $5 Power Distribution & OSD: RedRotorRC RROSD PDB with Current Sens.                    $35 Flight Controller: MotoLabs

210-220mm FPV Quads. King of the Jungle

The last couple of month had been full of new product releases and tons of beta testing. RushMore Mods is always in pursuit of making sure we are at the very edge of the latest and greatest technology but ensuring that these products can withstand the abuse and time. After much testing we have settled on our new Flagship machine. 5" Propellers are the best of both worlds. They are small enough allowing you to run a smaller build but still providing you with insane thrust. This allows us to shrink the frame from the 270mm down to 210mm, and making the frame smaller, lighter, but more robust. Smaller motor to motor distance equals to better handling. Also getting the frame to be close to the X shape also improves handling of the quad as the software that runs these quads is designed for an X based machine. We have decided to use only the best of the best hardware on the market, the tried and true parts that we and the online community know will st
