Adventure into the RC world, and Drones

OK so i finally am venturing into something i have always get my feet wet in, the the RC community, and what better way to get into RC stuff is the currently very popular quad-copter platforms.
Of course this is not going to be any regular quad-copter, since my love for tinkering with things influences about everything i purchase these days.
So decided to get the OFFICIAL 3DR Robotics ArduPilot 2.6 flight controller board, in a kit with the powerful Nema 6-H GPS module and wireless telemetry.

Some history on the 3DR flight controller is the most thought after Autonomous flight controller as it has won numerous awards and taken first places in competitions years in the row now. The main selling point for me was the Open Source Soft and Hardware. These guys defiantly made one kick a&& flight controller.  I am getting a late start on writing about this as i have finally completed my build. So i guess a little spoil alert is that this Flight controller is unbelievable.  I will go into more detail about this later.

So now that i have shared with what is going to be the brain of our drone, i was enlightened that not every one knows what a RC Multirotor craft might consist of. So since i love sharing my knowledge i think i will try to share as much of the little knowledge i have gained over the past two month tinkering with this new world of technology(to me).

OK so lets take it from the top, i am sure a lot of you have played with a remote control car at some point in your life. The concept is the same we have a Vehicle in my case i chose an aerial vehicle, and to top that a MultiRotor vehicle.
MultiRotor means that unlike a regular airplane we have multiple rotors providing thrust on multiple fixed wings. Rotor = Motor.
In the next post i will provide a Bill of Materials for this quad copter, although i have gone through multiple major revisions of my aircraft i will only provide the latest as hopefully my Blog will provide the knowledge base for you not to make the same mistakes as i made.

Review: FatShark Dominator v2 (Part 1 of 3)

This review will be broken down into 3 parts: Part 1 = The goggles, Features, thoughts Part 2 = DVR Quality, How to Operate Part 3 = Accessories, Reception Quality Shoot OUT( 3 different Antennas Tested) Hello everyone, i have recently had a chance to enjoy the FPV experience with many different sets of goggles including the FatShark Dominator v2, FatShark Attitude SD, Skyzone Diversity goggles and even the Quanum monitor/goggles DIY set up. In this post i will focus more on the newly updated Dominators, some people call them version 2.2, because the company had made some major changes in the positive direction for these goggles. As stated above i have tried many different solutions for flying FPV. Let me just say get this out of the way, if you are flying via monitor and not goggles you are doing yourself an injustice because your experience is not at all what it should be. There is no other feeling like feeling that you are sitting inside of your little 250 frame zoomin...

How To: Action Camera SJ4000: Review and Lens Replacement

Hello so from the previous post you might have noticed that i fancy the SJ4000 camera. From all the research that i had done online it seems like there are people who decided to give this camera a try in search of a Cheaper GoPro Alternative and those people all seems to be extremely happy with their pick. Then there are the people who believe that there is a reason the GoPro is double the money for their least expensive model, and that the SJ4000 is most likely half of the camera, and have never seen the SJ4000 in person. To tell you the truth i was one of those people who thought that there is no way that this camera can be on par with the GoPro and was not really going to consider it for my Airial Video device. Well as i learned the hard way in the RC world its best to buy things that people have used and have positive view on. so my camera budget got sliced in half due to the fact that i needed a new set of motors for my build. Then the SJ4000 became a very appealing unit...
