210-220mm FPV Quads. King of the Jungle

The last couple of month had been full of new product releases and tons of beta testing. RushMore Mods is always in pursuit of making sure we are at the very edge of the latest and greatest technology but ensuring that these products can withstand the abuse and time.

After much testing we have settled on our new Flagship machine. 5" Propellers are the best of both worlds. They are small enough allowing you to run a smaller build but still providing you with insane thrust. This allows us to shrink the frame from the 270mm down to 210mm, and making the frame smaller, lighter, but more robust.
Smaller motor to motor distance equals to better handling. Also getting the frame to be close to the X shape also improves handling of the quad as the software that runs these quads is designed for an X based machine.

We have decided to use only the best of the best hardware on the market, the tried and true parts that we and the online community know will stand up to abuse and provide all the important features that make RushMore Mods quads unique.

We decided to partner with Lumenier to bring you the best frames on the market at an affordable price. QAV-210 Charpu Edition frame has been one of the best frames around. Its uni-body design makes the frame extremely durable, its also a lot less parts which allows us to make the build even cleaner then before. Most Importantly its a lot more user friendly for servicing especially for new pilots who are just starting out, its by far the best option.

RushMore Mods as usual takes it to the next level by including all the 3d Printed goodies that makes the frame that much easier to use as well as being protected. With out the 3d printed gear it would be a lot harder to mount electronics, you would be landing on straight carbon fiber, you would not have anything to mount the addressable LED, and the gopro mount is an absolute must.

Now on to the muscle of the machine.
Over the last couple of month manufactures started producing motors with much stronger magnets, as well as magnets being larger. This is what really sets these new machines apart from all of our previous ones.
The new motors are the 2205 2300kv with High Temp, Curved N52 magnets. These motors provide almost 25% more power then our previous 2204 2300kv motors. So what does that mean, it means you now have the same power as if you were to add a fifth motor to our previous builds.
These motors paired with out new Lighter and tighter builds, gives you an insane power boost, as well as increased handling capabilities.
You now have the power to pull out of any situation, You can be diving a building and hit the throttle 3 feet of the ground and it will pull out of the drop with ease.

We did not stop their, these machine now include the latest in ESC technology to really take advantage of these new motors. We found an extremely over the top ESC that give you a lot more headroom then our previous ESC. No more 20amp, we have a special edition LittleBEE Pro ESC 30amp, with oversize Nfets, to make sure that you will not burn them out even in the most extreme conditions.
These ESC also run the latest MultiShot BlHeli firmware allowing for much faster response time to the flight controller commands, as well as improved active breaking. This is probably the most important improvement in ESC technology since active breaking hit the streets about 1 year ago.

The Flight Controller has had a major improvement alos. No longer are we using the Naze32 platform that ran on the F1 processor. We are now using the best F3 based flight controllers around. These new F3 flight controllers are a huge upgrade allowing us to finally break away from the CleanFlight firmware and run BetaFlight, as its by far a more superior soft. F1 based chips could not process the complex algorithms that BetaFlight has.
All in all these new machines Look Different, weight Different, Fly Different

Now just like computers your computer might be really fast but if your motherboard is cheap your machine will not last long. This is why we went with the best on the market Power Distribution Board.
RedRotorRc has been producing amazing product but by far the best one is the RROSD, its been widely used by the best pilots around.
This Power Distribution board can handle as much amp as you throw at it but most importantly it incorporates an On Screen Display, which is a must have for any quads and RushMore Mods had never made a machine without it.
All previous OSD modules were standalone and were never really reliable after some serious crashes.
The RROSD takes the minimalist approach to things which makes things very easy to use. At the same time if provides you with all the possible information you need.
RROSD shows the Voltage, Amps consumed at any given moment and Mah consumed total, so you never have to guess how much battery you have left over, and finally the flight timer.

All of our builds all include 8 Individually addressable LEDs mounted on the back of the quad. These LEDs are connected directly to the flight controller and they relay important information to you visually. For example when your battery is getting low the leds will flash red, if your quad is at too steep of an angle to arm the leds will flash green, as well as many other things. Besides these visual clues, machine comes with a buzzer which will give you audible alarms also.

FPV camera has had a major overhaul as well. No more exposed board cameras. The Latest and greatest flight camera is the RunCam Swift. Its virtually the same Sony SuperHAD II 600tvl WDR board camera that has been shrunk in size almost %50 and put into a casing that mounts directly to the sidwalls of the frame, allowing you to adjust the camera angle on demand without the need of any tools. We also believe the picture quality is slightly better as well.

Video Transmitter is now a 40ch instead of 32ch. The extra 8ch are the RaceBand channels which allows you to participate at racing events now or if you want to just fly with a bunch of people the RaceBand has the best channel separation out of all. Probably what is even a bigger upgrade then extra chances is the LED display and the button. No More learning binary code so you can switch channels with dip switches. you now have a display on what ch and band you are sitting on. Allowing you to change channels with much ease.

So with all these upgrades you are to be sure that you have the latest and greatest equipment around, you can grow your FPV experience with this machine for month to come as all the BetaFlight development and BlHeli development is happening on this very same hardware.

Review: FatShark Dominator v2 (Part 1 of 3)

This review will be broken down into 3 parts: Part 1 = The goggles, Features, thoughts Part 2 = DVR Quality, How to Operate Part 3 = Accessories, Reception Quality Shoot OUT( 3 different Antennas Tested) Hello everyone, i have recently had a chance to enjoy the FPV experience with many different sets of goggles including the FatShark Dominator v2, FatShark Attitude SD, Skyzone Diversity goggles and even the Quanum monitor/goggles DIY set up. In this post i will focus more on the newly updated Dominators, some people call them version 2.2, because the company had made some major changes in the positive direction for these goggles. As stated above i have tried many different solutions for flying FPV. Let me just say get this out of the way, if you are flying via monitor and not goggles you are doing yourself an injustice because your experience is not at all what it should be. There is no other feeling like feeling that you are sitting inside of your little 250 frame zoomin

How To: Action Camera SJ4000: Review and Lens Replacement

Hello so from the previous post you might have noticed that i fancy the SJ4000 camera. From all the research that i had done online it seems like there are people who decided to give this camera a try in search of a Cheaper GoPro Alternative and those people all seems to be extremely happy with their pick. Then there are the people who believe that there is a reason the GoPro is double the money for their least expensive model, and that the SJ4000 is most likely half of the camera, and have never seen the SJ4000 in person. To tell you the truth i was one of those people who thought that there is no way that this camera can be on par with the GoPro and was not really going to consider it for my Airial Video device. Well as i learned the hard way in the RC world its best to buy things that people have used and have positive view on. so my camera budget got sliced in half due to the fact that i needed a new set of motors for my build. Then the SJ4000 became a very appealing unit

Review: FatShark Dominator v2 (Part 2 of 3)

This Portion of the Review will showcase the Quality of the build in DVR Function that outputs to a Micro SD card. I do not think we ever get tired of stressing this to our friends and clients, that to us this feature is of great importance other then its just something else that it can do. This is why we are talking about this prior to showing all hardware option and other things. Having a DVR on the ground side is Extremely Valuable. Very simple scenatio is you were driving home and saw this beautiful place and decided to stop by and explore it with your RMM250 mini quad.  Unfortunatly u chose to disregard our advice on on having a ground based recorded because why waste money on it because it records it in nothing that you would be proud of posting on youtube!. Probobly thought that we were stupid since you already have a mobius recording in HD. Well you start flying then about 250 feet away hit a treebrand and spiral straight down. Then you figure out that ther
