RushMoreMods Big News: We are going Small, Welcome 180mm!!

During the last couple of month we received quite a few request for sub 250mm FPV quads that are made with everything RushMoreMods stands for, because of that we really did not want to just jump on something and just shoot it to our clients.
We actually reached out to a number of different engineers who had already been refining their 180 frame designs and a lot of them listened to our feedback, some completely ignored us.
We were actually starting to believe that not making our own was starting to be a bigger problem then a solution.
Fortunately, saved by the bell. Well more like Drone Nationals, where we really got to meet and talk to the great people from Armattan Quads. Instantly we knew this who we want to work with.
Just like US they offer LifeTime Warranty on their frames, which makes it a great fit in our lineup.
RushMoreMods is now adding a new product that are available right away:

RMM Built and Tuned Armattan 180mm FPV QuadCopter

So Where does the 180mm FPV Quads fit in this ever evolving market?

Most Importantly: We will explain some things you need to consider before deciding between the 250 or 180 class machines.

180mm Quads:
As this industry is constantly evolving and just like with everything Tech., it all gets better but smaller and smaller.
Although with quads smaller does not always mean better.
180mm Classs Machines improved dramatically over the last two month, mainly why we are entering the game so late. Up until right now the machines in that size were simply not powerful enough and because of the old ESC Tech you could not control them all that well anyway.

Now a lot of the 180 quads will be running with 250 quads and you will not know the difference. It is also important to understand that if you want the Insane Power, and have the fastest machine when you go to your FPV Race Meets, then most likely 180mm quads are simply not for you.

Think of these things like Mini Cooper that has been Moded, and the 250 quads are the Best Corvettes or Audi rs4 money could buy.

What made the 250 class of machines so popular is that they are simply Great at everything you might want to do with a quad and they are affordable.
In our Opinion if you really want to have with a 180 quad then you will not be putting a HD camera on it. Why? because of the weight. Now some people might say oh well, but from what we know that people love recording and then going back and watching and showing their friends their flights. Its Simply not the same when its your DVR recording standard definition.
You have to ask yourself, is sharing or having proof of your superb crashes/moves important to you? if you answered yes then you should be putting some doubt in going to the 180 platform first instead of the 250mm.
That being said, it does not mean people have not put GoPros on their 180 quads but trust us, its reserved for a much experienced pilots.
Now that we got the negative thing of our chest we can talk about what makes 180 class machines so appealing to people.

180mm Size is Perfect for people who live in the Citys, who have small parks, small spaces, small everything.
If you live like that then a 250 quad might seem either to powerful or to bulky to fly around heavily populated areas, like most urban areas.
Now if you live in the Suburb then the ball can really roll either way, its truly up to your liking.
Also the weight of the machine is almost half of what the 250 counterpart  weighs so it should take a crash a little better since there is not all that force hitting an object, but on the other side of that it makes it a lot harder to fly in mildly harsh conditions.
Although we will be providing you with 3 different profiles that will address the config of the machine for windy situations.

I think we have done enough talking, please review spec that we are currently going with, pictures and flight videos.

We built two of these little guys and have been having a lot of fun at our park down the street.
FeedBack or questions are always welcome.

Also we have had very good results with GemFan 4x4.5". Also just like with all of our machines customer will receive a good amount of propellers to get them started.****Pictures Below******
  • Lipo Battery:  Best Flight times we found to be on 3s 1300mah 35c, but it could feel a little heavy to some, if you want great agility and good flight time and not stress your machine to much then 3s 1000mah 35c is best choice, and of course if you want race someone just throw in the 4s 1000mah 35c and watch yourself climb the leader board.

**Note**
These Videos were made before current sensor was properly calibrated, although close at the time of the videos it would show that it consumed 150mah more then it actually charged after, and amp draw was 1.5 amp too high. as of 8/22 all of our machines have one of the most Accurate current sensor reading in the industry

This is a great Video that shows that you can have a ton of fun even in limited real estate.

We think is a great way to explain how great these new Props are, these were the Indestructible 5x4, that we cut to 4x4 Bullnose

And last but not least, this is how the Morphite 180 handles itself when there is a little bit more room to stretch ;)

Review: FatShark Dominator v2 (Part 1 of 3)

This review will be broken down into 3 parts: Part 1 = The goggles, Features, thoughts Part 2 = DVR Quality, How to Operate Part 3 = Accessories, Reception Quality Shoot OUT( 3 different Antennas Tested) Hello everyone, i have recently had a chance to enjoy the FPV experience with many different sets of goggles including the FatShark Dominator v2, FatShark Attitude SD, Skyzone Diversity goggles and even the Quanum monitor/goggles DIY set up. In this post i will focus more on the newly updated Dominators, some people call them version 2.2, because the company had made some major changes in the positive direction for these goggles. As stated above i have tried many different solutions for flying FPV. Let me just say get this out of the way, if you are flying via monitor and not goggles you are doing yourself an injustice because your experience is not at all what it should be. There is no other feeling like feeling that you are sitting inside of your little 250 frame zoomin

How To: Action Camera SJ4000: Review and Lens Replacement

Hello so from the previous post you might have noticed that i fancy the SJ4000 camera. From all the research that i had done online it seems like there are people who decided to give this camera a try in search of a Cheaper GoPro Alternative and those people all seems to be extremely happy with their pick. Then there are the people who believe that there is a reason the GoPro is double the money for their least expensive model, and that the SJ4000 is most likely half of the camera, and have never seen the SJ4000 in person. To tell you the truth i was one of those people who thought that there is no way that this camera can be on par with the GoPro and was not really going to consider it for my Airial Video device. Well as i learned the hard way in the RC world its best to buy things that people have used and have positive view on. so my camera budget got sliced in half due to the fact that i needed a new set of motors for my build. Then the SJ4000 became a very appealing unit

Review: FatShark Dominator v2 (Part 2 of 3)

This Portion of the Review will showcase the Quality of the build in DVR Function that outputs to a Micro SD card. I do not think we ever get tired of stressing this to our friends and clients, that to us this feature is of great importance other then its just something else that it can do. This is why we are talking about this prior to showing all hardware option and other things. Having a DVR on the ground side is Extremely Valuable. Very simple scenatio is you were driving home and saw this beautiful place and decided to stop by and explore it with your RMM250 mini quad.  Unfortunatly u chose to disregard our advice on on having a ground based recorded because why waste money on it because it records it in nothing that you would be proud of posting on youtube!. Probobly thought that we were stupid since you already have a mobius recording in HD. Well you start flying then about 250 feet away hit a treebrand and spiral straight down. Then you figure out that ther
