Review: FatShark Dominator v2, Accessories (Part 3 of 3)

Review: FatShark Dominator v2, Accessories (Part 3 of 3)

The Long Awaited Final Part of the FatShark  Dominator v2 is here. It is no accident that this portion of Review is coming out now. So much later then the Hardware and the DVR reviews. We feel that this brand new information is a must know if you are just now looking to get into FPV or looking to upgrade your old goggles to the v2.

To Be Honest we are all a bit Jealous of all the newcomers into the hobby, as they are not even going to know about the Frustrations we had to go through.

So I will cut to the chase.

We will look at the Accessories that are available and hopefully our insight will allow you to have the best Experience in the FPV.

**NOTICE** FatShark Dominator v2 has Dropped in Price. They can now be bought for $325, which is a steal in our opinion. Please remember that you will still need some key things in order to be able to fly.

We are going to look:

  • #1 MUST Have Accessory for Comfort, the FacePlate with Fan Upgrade
  • Different Receiver Options available on the market.
  • Antenna Options

So The Reason why we held of on releasing this review was mainly due this new item. We believe that this is a true game changer.

The FacePlate with Fan Upgrade is a MUST HAVE ITEM!

This item truly touches on all the issues that we have had with these goggles.
Some of the problems people were having with the original suction cups was that they never sat on your face properly and often the whole plastic enclosure was just being held up by your nose, very very uncomfortable feeling. Now for many years Probably since the very first FPV Goggles came out people have been doing the Ski Mask Mod, where they would purchase a nice set of ski goggles and cut the Fatsharks into them.
Why? you might ask.
Its done for a couple of reasons actually, the main one is for comfort. Ski Goggles have a much larger and wider surface area that is being used as support on your face, making it instantly a much easier item to wear.
Another reason people do the mod is because if you actually just move your eyes just a couple of mm. back the picture suddenly becomes a lot easier to see and just less strain on the eyes.
Also your eyelashes do not wipe the lenses.

Talking about the Lenses.
The absolute Number ONE issues that we have with FPV goggles is Fogging. People have been coming up with a lot weird ways to avoid your FPV experience being ruined because mid flight your lenses got fogged up.
This Device has the most genius and straight forward solution for fogging.

FatShark Incorporated a small fan and some very clever air duct work to make sure that your eyes feel nice and cool when you put the goggles on, and you instantly forget that these things use to fog up on you almost every day.
It is now an absolute Pleasure to Wear these Goggles.

Below you will see some Detailed Pictures of the latest Add-ON, After the Many Pictures we will talk about all the other Accessories.

Now that we got that out of the way, things only get even easier from this point on.

FatShark and ImmersionRC have made it very simple to choose the Receiver that you need.
It was not even a month ago that We had to purchase 2 different receivers if we had models that flew on the FatShark bands and on the Chinese Bands. On top of that those receivers were almost $50 a pop.

Now with the Price Drop of the Goggles, they try to help you save even more by offering a brand new Receiver. The Receiver that should have been all along.

The New Receiver supports All the channels including the Brand New Race Bands that were also recently announced.

The new Receiver is priced the same everywhere at $30. For your Reference here is a link

Now dont get me wrong there are many other receivers out there like the TBS branded one and of course the 2.4ghz and 1.3ghz and even the 900mhz Receivers.
Most of you will be starting out at the 5.8ghz band so we will focus this post on that.

Now Here is for your Reference Some of the Old Receivers and How the are attached to the Goggles!

Next We are Going to Talk about the Different Antenna Styles and how should you go about deciding which is the right one for you.
This can be a pretty complicated topic as the godfather of FPV himself IbCrazy has made numerous videos on just trying to explain to the people all the styles of antennas.

We will save this for the next post as we are going to attempt to give you a small guide that if you follow you will not be wrong.!!

Review: FatShark Dominator v2 (Part 1 of 3)

This review will be broken down into 3 parts: Part 1 = The goggles, Features, thoughts Part 2 = DVR Quality, How to Operate Part 3 = Accessories, Reception Quality Shoot OUT( 3 different Antennas Tested) Hello everyone, i have recently had a chance to enjoy the FPV experience with many different sets of goggles including the FatShark Dominator v2, FatShark Attitude SD, Skyzone Diversity goggles and even the Quanum monitor/goggles DIY set up. In this post i will focus more on the newly updated Dominators, some people call them version 2.2, because the company had made some major changes in the positive direction for these goggles. As stated above i have tried many different solutions for flying FPV. Let me just say get this out of the way, if you are flying via monitor and not goggles you are doing yourself an injustice because your experience is not at all what it should be. There is no other feeling like feeling that you are sitting inside of your little 250 frame zoomin

How To: Action Camera SJ4000: Review and Lens Replacement

Hello so from the previous post you might have noticed that i fancy the SJ4000 camera. From all the research that i had done online it seems like there are people who decided to give this camera a try in search of a Cheaper GoPro Alternative and those people all seems to be extremely happy with their pick. Then there are the people who believe that there is a reason the GoPro is double the money for their least expensive model, and that the SJ4000 is most likely half of the camera, and have never seen the SJ4000 in person. To tell you the truth i was one of those people who thought that there is no way that this camera can be on par with the GoPro and was not really going to consider it for my Airial Video device. Well as i learned the hard way in the RC world its best to buy things that people have used and have positive view on. so my camera budget got sliced in half due to the fact that i needed a new set of motors for my build. Then the SJ4000 became a very appealing unit

Review: FatShark Dominator v2 (Part 2 of 3)

This Portion of the Review will showcase the Quality of the build in DVR Function that outputs to a Micro SD card. I do not think we ever get tired of stressing this to our friends and clients, that to us this feature is of great importance other then its just something else that it can do. This is why we are talking about this prior to showing all hardware option and other things. Having a DVR on the ground side is Extremely Valuable. Very simple scenatio is you were driving home and saw this beautiful place and decided to stop by and explore it with your RMM250 mini quad.  Unfortunatly u chose to disregard our advice on on having a ground based recorded because why waste money on it because it records it in nothing that you would be proud of posting on youtube!. Probobly thought that we were stupid since you already have a mobius recording in HD. Well you start flying then about 250 feet away hit a treebrand and spiral straight down. Then you figure out that ther
